I took the kids on a fossil hunt yesterday. It was a two hour drive west to Mineral Wells. We had a blast. The fossils are abundant! I did my research and discovered that hunting is best after a good rain, and they had lots of rain Friday and Saturday.
So we came home with brachipods, crinoids and about 20 pounds of mud. The area was beautiful and very secluded. I got some cool shots that I will load later of the area. I also took some photos of the fossils.
What was a suprise to me was the town of Weatherford! I didn't know it was so adorable. It had a great farmers market, old buildings and adorable town square. Our next trip out will include a few nights in a tent and I am sure a visit to the market!

Balloon Festival - Plano

We did the baloon festival last weekend. When the alarm clock went off at 5:30am I was really thinking perhaps to try the evening "burn" instead, but Vinny got up and so did I. I figured since he was already awake, we may as well go.
I had borrowed a zoom lens from a friend and enjoying it for the weekend. (I found it most useful the previous day at Grapefest where Vinny's band was playing).
Anyway - here are a few of the shots....

Missing?
I took like 700 photos whilst in New York this past weekend, but my free time has fallen to nil. The new job has me working until at least 5pm, and I am really having trouble adjusting to that. I got so much done from 3-5pm before! What a difference. Anyway - I will get some photos up soon I PROMISE! (I also promise not to post 700 pics! More like 12, okay?)
The new job is fabulous. People are great and most have worked here as there only job ever and have been here for 20+years. My two main bosses are easy to get along with and open to suggestions and if you know me, you know I have them! Maybe I should blog about the new job a bit with out mentioning my company name of course. The handbook suggests that we refer to our employer in blogs as a "well known consulting firm in the petrolium industry" I am pretty sure they spell petrol correctly, but I am a rebel and refuse!
Some of the things they do are SO old school. Until 5 years ago they still did all their accounting in ledgers, you know what I mean. Those huge books that Bob Cratchet used to keep Scrooge's books. The old ledgers are still in one of the rooms here. Can you imagine???
I am still in touch with several of my "peoples" from the old Company. I do miss them, but I will try to keep contact with them. They were great to work with.
Ok - enough for now. Remind me to post about the library, prom and debutantes!!
